5th Painting -- Tribute To Bob Ross

Mountains.jpg

A Happy Little Mountain

I've been experimenting with a number of different type of painting techniques in my brief absence. During that time, I've been watching a small collection of the painting series "The Joy of Painting" with Bob Ross. Man this guy is awesome. This picture was inspired by the techniques Bob employs in his paintings. This picture is the first picture I've painted from my mind as well as my first experience using OILS. My past paintings have been done using acrylic paints, which seem to dry too quickly for my painting style. After seeing the way Bob Ross captures the "Happy" subjects in his paintings, I decided to switch. I think this will ultimately make me a better painter. However, the clean-up will take some getting used to. With acrylics, only water was necessary to clean up. With oils, you must use turpentine. I'm still finding paint spots all over my arms that i've missed....HEY!!! there's some right here on the keyboard. Doh!!! Well, I'm off and in the words of Bob Ross:
"Happy Painting and God Bless"

***Note: The painting isn't as grainy as the photo makes it. I need a new camera

I like the mountain scene. I know, there's not much constructive about that statement for you and your technique, but I still like it. Have you considered watercolors?

I think thajt painting is lovely, and so are you!
